If you wish to disable the Chat completely, navigate to 'My Profile' at the top of your browser window. A drop-down menu will appear. Select 'Settings', then 'Privacy'. Select the check box next to 'Disable Chat' then scroll down until you see 'Save Changes' and select to ensure your changes are saved.
You’ll notice that the Chat bar and Show/Hide arrow have disappeared from the bottom of your browser window. The Chat is now disabled and members will not be able to message you via the IM.
