What Are the Accepted Verification IDs?

Modified on Tue, 20 Aug at 7:02 AM

VerifyMyContent is our verification partner, and this FAQ is to help give an idea of what is and isn't accepted. They can only accept government-issued IDs that haven't expired, and include a photo of you so we can match you with your ID.

What does this include?

The following documents are accepted and must be written using Latin characters. The only exception to this is driver's licenses and IDs, which use Japanese characters.

  • Driver licenses (plastic version)
  • Passports
  • Residence permits (plastic version)
  • National or State ID cards (plastic version)
  • Your ID must also be in good condition to be accepted.

VerifyMyContent can accept IDs with slight defects, but for example, an ID broken in half and taped back together or an ID with extensive wear will not be accepted.

What's not included?

  • Library cards
  • Donor cards
  • Employee ID cards
  • Student ID cards
  • Temporary paper IDs, including driver's licenses
  • Prison ID cards
  • Paper or laminated paper ID cards (with the exception of paper Brazilian ID cards and laminated paper French ID cards)
  • UK Citizencard
  • Military ID

If you can't see the ID you're trying to use listed, let us know by submitting a ticket.
