Videos can fail to upload for a variety of reasons. In most situations upload errors can be related to either a connection, browser or a file issue that interrupts the upload.
If you experience difficulty uploading videos to your BateWorld profile, for example, the green upload bar hangs or you don't see the 'upload successful' confirmation, take a look at some of the troubleshooting tips below.
Video Files |
- Ensure there are no punctuation marks or special characters in the file name before the period delineating the file type, and remove any spaces or underscores from the file name.
- Check the original file for any corruption issues by playing it back in full. Corruption issues can occur while recording or editing the video.
- Upload original, unedited files. If the file has been manipulated or edited in third-party software it may impact the integrity of the file and cause the upload to fail.
- Try uploading another video to check if the video you're trying to upload is corrupted. It can always be deleted after.
- Try converting the video from one format to another, e.g. .mov to .mp4 then reattempt the upload.
- Keep within the maximum file size. Basic members have 10GB (15min max duration), Premium members have 20GB (30min max duration).
- Only upload accepted file formats, which are: .mov, .qt, .wmv, .mp4, .m4v, .avi, .mpg, or .mpeg.
Browser |
- Disable any browser extensions, pop-up or ad blocking software as these can interfere with the upload process.
- Clear the cookie and cache history (all time) from the browser, remember to sign out of any active tabs first otherwise clearing the cache will do it for you.
- Try uploading using a different browser if your upload continues to fail or time-out.
- If there are many active IM chats open while using BateWorld, close them before attempting to upload your video as having lots of chat windows open can slow things down significantly.
Network Connection |
- Problems with internet connection can disrupt the upload process, for example, a slow or unstable connection can cause uploads to hang or time out. You can always check your internet speed by using an app or an online speed test tool.
- If your video upload is slow on hangs on a certain upload percentage, end or pause any other activity on your network that may be consuming bandwidth e.g. streaming, online games, uploads or downloads. High traffic during peak hours can also cause upload delays or issues. Remember: 4K videos may take longer to upload than lower resolutions, such as 1080p.
- Try restarting your router or plug your computer or laptop into the router directly with the ethernet cable to rule out any WiFi connectivity issues.
- If using 4/5G, ensure you have good connectivity before attempting to upload.
- If using a VPN, try turning it off and upload the video again.
- Temporarily disable any antivirus software and reattempt another upload.
